CIDE DICTIONARY

trachyten. [Gr. rough, rugged: cg. F. trachyte.].
     An igneous rock, usually light gray in color and breaking with a rough surface. It consists chiefly of orthoclase feldspar with sometimes hornblende and mica.  [1913 Webster]
