chondropterygiin. pl. [NL., fr. Gr. cartilage + , , wing, fin.].
     A group of fishes, characterized by cartilaginous fins and skeleton. It includes both ganoids (sturgeons, etc.) and selachians (sharks), but is now often restricted to the latter.  [1913 Webster]
