bechuanas (root: bechuana)

 A division of the Bantus, dwelling between the Orange and Zambezi rivers, supposed to be the most ancient Bantu population of South Africa. They are divided into totemic clans; they are intelligent and progressive.  [Webster 1913 Suppl.]
